The Numismatic Bibliomania Society 

The Numismatic Bibliomania Society (NBS) is a non-profit educational organization founded in 1980 to support and promote the use and collecting of numismatic literature. Numismatic literature includes books, periodicals, catalogs and other written or printed material relating to coins, medals, tokens, or paper money, ancient or modern, U.S. or worldwide. Membership is open to any individual or organization interested in the study of numismatics and the study and collecting of numismatic literature.   To buy, sell, or trade numismatic literature, please consider the dealer and collector sponsors who support our web site.

Publications  The NBS publishes a quarterly journal called The Asylum, featuring articles on a wide variety of topics on numismatic literature and numismatics in general.

The Society also maintains an Internet email list called the E-Sylum.  The email list is used to keep members and interested parties updated on NBS events and  changes to the NBS web site.

 E-sylum edited by Wayne Homren was presented with a Special Merit award at the 2003 ANA Annual Convention! Congratulations to Wayne for a great job of editing!
Meetings  Membership meetings are held several times yearly. The national meeting is held is conjunction with the annual convention of the American Numismatic Association (ANA). Other meetings are held at major regional coin shows around the country. Click here for an event schedule
Educational Forums  At the annual ANA convention NBS also sponsors a Numismatic Literature Forum where a number of prominent bibliophiles and numismatists speak and answer questions on a wide variety of interesting topics in the field of numismatics and numismatic literature. Awards  In order to promote excellence in the field of numismatic literature, and to recognize outstanding contributions to our house organ and the field of numismatic knowledge in general, the Numismatic Bibliomania Society has established a number of awards including the Best Asylum Article Award , and the Jack Collins Award.

Numismatic Bibliography  L. D. Mitchell has contributed a general  numismatic bibliography arranged by specialty. 
Exhibits 
A major feature of the annual ANA convention is the Exhibit Area, where collectors from across the country display items from their collections for the education and enjoyment of fellow collectors. Click here for online versions of past numismatic literature exhibits
Libraries  The major numismatic organizations have extensive numismatic reference libraries available for researchers and collectors. 
Indexes  The Harry W. Bass Research Foundation has created searchable indexes of Numismatic Periodicals. The Numismatic Indexes Project (NIP) covers a wide range of numismatic scholarship over many decades.
