ON DEALING WITH REPORTERSDavid Lange writes: Regarding the New York Times interview about the Lincoln Cent, I spent quite a while with the reporter on the phone. As is typical of such encounters, what was actually used was but a fraction of what we discussed. I haven't seen the printed version of the article, and it may have been more substantial than the online excerpt. Working with the non-numismatic media is always a bit frustrating, with most remarks published entirely out of their original context, though that wasn't the case with my one brief quote. What was left out, however, seems to me to have been of greater interest to general readers, and it's regrettable that this turned out to be mostly a fluff piece.
