It's been a while since we've looked at new coin designs. Based on dealers', mints' and central Banks' news mails, ultra-modern numismatist Pabitra Saha reports on the latest coin designs. Here's one that caught my eye this week. -Editor

France - € 10 Euro - 2018 - Gates of Versaille

A very intricate obverse design, and the gilding nicely sets off the key portion. Squeezing too much into a design is often a recipe for disaster, and I think this works. Can anyone tell us what the reverse design represents? The Monnaie de Paris product page I found doesn't say. -Editor

Nicely done. I like both sides of this design, and don't think I've seen anything like the treeline perspective on the right. I saw this one in the results of the Japan Mint's 2017 International Coin Design Competition. -Editor
