2026 NBS CHARITY AUCTION AT ANAAs promised, here is information on the NBS Charity Auction at the upcoming ANA convention in Pittsburgh. -Editor 
NBS Charity Auction at ANA The NBS Charity Auction at the ANA Convention will take place as part of the NBS General Meeting, Friday, August 28, at 11:30AM in room 325 of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Sale highlights include a plated copy of Woodward's Twining sale, held April 27-29, 1886, donated by Tom Harrison. Any early plated American sale is desirable, and this example is rated A by Adams for colonials and tokens. Joel Orosz donated a copy of Anburey's Travels Through the Interior Parts of America (1791), one of the earliest works to depict Continental Currency. Joel is well-known for his affinity for association copies, and one can only assume he has acquired Anburey's original copy and is donating this example as a duplicate. From Dan Hamelberg comes an early work on American tokens, the c. 1860 volume Catalogue of American Store Cards, published by the Numismatic Society of Philadelphia. Dan further contributed a deluxe copy of Breen and Gillio's California Pioneer Fractional Gold (1983), this from a limited edition of a hundred copies. Many thanks to David Fanning for cataloging this year's sale, as well as to the generous donors who contributed literature on behalf of NBS.

And here's a repeat of the other NBS events taking place at the ANA. -Editor The annual ANA convention beckons, with this year's installment taking place in Pittsburgh, August 25-29. As usual, the NBS will host a club table on the bourse floor, in addition to our symposium and general meetings.
"The book is a not passive carrier of text, but an active participant in shaping how text is read. This presentation will touch on the history of printing, typography, binding, and illustration, with a focus on how the look of the book changes in response to technological advances. Throughout history, text has been shaped by the technologies available to transmit it, making it impossible to separate the text from the object that carries it. In short, the book matters." Friday, August 28, the NBS general meeting will take place at 11:30am in room 325. In addition to the presentation of literary awards, we will conduct our annual Charity Auction.
