More on Richard Falkiner
Richard Lobel of Coincraft writes:
"I was sad to hear of his death. He was a true gentleman of the old school. I first met him more than 50 years ago when he was at Christie's. I was a young American who thought he knew about coins and the coin business. At that time I use to go around London in pink and white shorts! At that time even the men digging up the road wore ties. He was kind and very helpful and became a real friend. Many the time he would pick up an object of some wonderment that we had and find a willing buyer. I think his kindness was the time he took me to one of the famous or infamous drinking clubs in Soho. Numismatics has lost another of its legends. I shall hold up a glass in his memory. Numismatics is a more boring place without him"
