The interior dimensions of the divided areas of the drawers, lined with velvet, range from 3.5 inches to just under 3.75 inches. Drawer depth is 1/2 inch. Each drawer will comfortably hold 28 standard PCGS or NGC slabs.
This coin cabinet has a storied history with prominent numismatic figures. Steve Ivy recalls that it came from a coin collection he purchased more than 40 years ago (circa 1983), and at the time it had hundreds if not thousands of manila 2x2 coin envelopes, including at least one that had an early U.S. Colonial coin in it. Those who handled the envelopes at the time recall that most were printed with Henry and Samuel H. Chapman's dealer stamps. Other Chapman brothers ephemera was also with the cabinet in the 1980s. Some of these pieces of ephemera have, for more than 40 years, resided in the Heritage Cataloging offices. These include unused consignment papers for S.H. and H. Chapman, Henry Chapman letterhead stationary, and a small group of the individual coin envelopes mentioned before. These relics of numismatic history were framed many years ago to preserve them. With the return of the cabinet itself to a Heritage offering, it seems only fitting that these pieces of Chapman ephemera that originally came from it be reunited with it. They are included here with the hope the cabinet's next owner will cherish them for the next 40 years.
From The Key West Collection.
