1913 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg Medal. By Jonathan M. Swanson, Struck by Whitehead & Hoag. Gold. No. 14. Mint State. With Original Case. 38.6 mm. 49.46 grams, 10 karat, 0.662 troy ounces AGW. Obv: Liberty holding palm fronds and fasces with kneeling Union and Confederate soldiers, the whole enveloped in an American Flag, legend FIFTIETH / ANNIVERSARY / OF THE / BATTLE OF / GETTYSBURG above a keystone in the right field. Rev: Clasped hands over a map of Pennsylvania on which is the legend REUNION / CIVIL WAR / VETERANS / 1913. Edge: Marked and numbered 10K 14 WHITEHEAD-HOAG at 6 o'clock. Produced for the Grand Reunion of the Blue and the Gray at Gettysburg Battlefield. The present example was awarded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to Major James Edward Normoyle (1866-1916), quartermaster for the 1913 Gettysburg 50h Anniversary Reunion. The original case is crushed and tattered, some portions missing. It is marked on the inside cover, in gilt lettering, THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. / NEWARK, N.J. Also included in this lot is a packet of printouts containing research on the medal and its recipient. (Total: 1 medal; 1 case) Provenance: Ex Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, awarded to Major James Edward Normoyle (1866-1916), quartermaster for the 1913 Gettysburg 50th Anniversary Reunion; Emma Margaret Normoyle, by descent; Margaret Ecker Normoyle, by descent; Caroline Parker Kuhn, by descent; Peter S. Bloy, current consignor, by descent.

Love token pin fashioned out of (3) Liberty Head quarter eagles. Includes (3) Liberty Head quarter eagles, one an 1847-C, the second an 1851, and the third an undated Dahlonega Mint piece. The first and second coins are unengraved, but the Dahlonega Mint coin has had its obverse planed off and converted into a Love token with the initials DE at top, monogrammed HL in center, the initials enhanced by enamels. All three coins have been looped and are suspended from a 14 karat gold pinback with Cupid motif on front. 62.5 mm x 32.0 mm, 18.74 grams, total dimensions and weight.
