DEISHER ELECTED TO ACEF BOARD

Beth Deisher has been elected to serve as a board member of the Anti-Counterfeiting Educational Foundation effective Sept. 15. She succeeds Mary Sauvain, who moved from board member to ACEF Executive Director Aug. 1. Sauvain was elected to the board in January 2024.

The ACEF Board of Directors welcomes Beth in her new capacity. She stepped down from her role as executive director Aug. 1 to allow more time to pursue other interests. "Her past experience operating within ACEF will be a tremendous asset to our organization and the numismatic community as a whole," ACEF Barry Stuppler said.

Deisher served as editor of Coin World for 27 years until retiring in 2012. During her Coin World tenure, she frequently testified on numismatic issues before Congressional committees; served on three Ohio commissions to recommend designs for Ohio's State Quarter, Ohio's Bicentennial medal, and a set of medals to celebrate the US 250 th Anniversary; wrote or edited more than 12 books on various numismatic topics and received more than 200 awards from the Numismatic Literary Guild, including NLG's Clemy Award. She was elected to the Numismatic Hall of Fame in 2013. Her most recent recognition was the American Numismatic Association's Elvira Clain-Stefanelli Award for Achievement in Numismatics.

An advocate for education in the numismatic community and fighting against coin counterfeiting, she coordinated the work of numismatic specialists and helped to develop training for federal law enforcement agencies in identification of counterfeits and intercepting counterfeit coins being imported into the United States.

Initially recruited to organize the Anti-Counterfeiting Task Force for the Industry Council for Tangible Assets, now known as the National Coin and Bullion Association, she moved to the role of ACEF executive director in April 2024.

Among other organizations, Deisher is a Fellow of the American Numismatic Society, a member of the American Numismatic Association, the Numismatic Literary Guild, Women in Numismatics until dissolution, the National Federation of Press Women, and the Society of Professional Journalists.
